Once purchased the tickets, you are ready for your climb of the most famous and still active volcano in the world that erupted for the last time in 1944. Herculaneum, casually found during a water well drilling in the 17th century, is the other Roman town destroyed by pyroclastic flow during the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 A.D. One of the highlights of this beautiful ruins is definitely Villa dei Papiri, where, a great collection of over 1800 papyrus, 50 marbles and 20 bronze sculptures were found.
